Events to Look Out for this Summer

Prepare to immerse yourself in a whirlwind of culture and history as the UK comes alive with the biggest events of the summer. From the legendary Glastonbury Festival, to the prestige of Wimbledon, the UK is setting the stage for an unforgettable few months. At Alpha Crew, we are thrilled to be a part of some of these exhilarating moments. Join us as we dive into some of the UK’s most sensational cultural and sporting events of the year.

Royal Ascot

20th - 24th June

One of the most famous racing events in the world, Royal Ascot is held every year in June at the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. Most notable for hosting high profile guests including the Royal Family, this will be the first Ascot since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and the first time His Majesty The King, Charles III will be in attendance as head of the monarchy. Over the five days the event is expected to host over 300,000 visitors!

Glastonbury

21st - 26th June

Last year we had the honour of being part of the production of the UK’s biggest music festival. We had over 50 crew working on the Pyramid Stage from the 18th to the end of June. Headlining the main stage this year are the Arctic Monkeys, GUNS N’ ROSES and Elton John, to name a few. This year we are delighted to return, providing crew once again! Keep an eye out on our socials for updates from this year's festival.

Round the Island Race

1st July

Round the Island Race is an annual event organised by the Island Sailing Club that has been held since 1931. The event is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight which attracts over 1200 boats and 10,000 sailors per year. This makes it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK!

London Pride

1st July

This year’s theme for London Pride is ‘Never March Alone’. The iconic parade will take place on July 1st, starting from Hyde Park corner, making its way to Piccadilly, then to Haymarket and Trafalgar Square, before reaching Whitehall Place.

Wimbledon

1st - 16th July

The oldest and most infamous tennis tournament in the world is returning to London this summer. Last year attendees were at a record high of over 500,000, which they are set to beat this year. The top picks for the men’s singles 2023 champions are Djokovic, Alcaraz and Medvedev. Alpha Crew are extremely excited and honoured to be a part of Wimbledon this year. RHS Hampton Court Flower Show

4th - 9th July

The Hampton Court Flower Show is held by the Royal Horticultural Society at Hampton Court Palace in Richmond. This summer the British flower show will feature gardens, floral marquees, pavilions, talks, demonstrations and live music as a part of their annual celebrations.

Formula 1 British Grand Prix

9th July

The British Grand Prix is taking place this summer on July 9th and will be held at the iconic Silverstone Circuit. This Grand Prix motor race is organised by the Royal Automobile Club and has been held annually since 1948.

The Open Championship

16th - 23rd July

The British Open, the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world, is returning to the Royal Liverpool Golf Club for the 13th time in its history. We’re delighted to be working at this historic event this summer and at such an amazing venue.

Bristol Harbour Festival

14th - 16th July

The Bristol Harbour Festival is a festival held annually in Bristol which celebrates their maritime heritage and the importance of Bristol’s docks and harbour. The festival will feature lots of exciting experiences from local talent and vendors as well as performances from Cirque Bijou.

The BBC Proms

14th July - 19th September

The Proms are an 8 week long summer festival of daily orchestral and classical music performances held each year at the Royal Albert Hall, one of our favourite London venues.

Edinburgh Tattoo and Fringe

4th - 28th August

Two of Scotland’s most infamous events, the Tattoo and Fringe are returning to Edinburgh once again this summer. The Fringe Festival is known for being one of the world’s greatest art festivals, celebrating culture and creativity from around the world. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual series of military tattoos performed by British Armed Forces and Commonwealth and international military bands. It also features artistic performance teams who with the military bands will showcase their performances on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.

RANDL

25th - 27th August

Reading and Leeds Festival is taking place over the August Bank Holiday at Little John’s Farm (Reading) and Brahm Park (Leeds). This year will see performances from Billie Eilish, Foals, Sam Fender and The Killers to name a few!
